Most of the NWWDA region is arid and semi-arid and most communities depend on ground water for permanent water supply. Hence ground water survey forms an integral part of any borehole water supply projects envisaged for the communities.

As such the Board felt that it required investing in the latest advanced terrameter so as to have an advantage in the surveying for ground water potential by minimizing the survey error that is common with other conventional terrameters.
