On 2 June 2026, the Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Julius Korir, CBS, led a high-level inspection tour of water infrastructure projects under the Dadantallai–Eldas–Jukala–Wardey Water Programme. The inspection covered key sites including the Jukala–Wardey, Languraa, Bilatulamin–Biad, Anole–Jigjiga, and Elnur Water Supply Projects.

The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Eldas Member of Parliament Hon. Adan Keynan Wehliye, Water Secretary Eng. Samuel Alima, and CPA. Andrew Rage, Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA).

During the tour, the delegation witnessed the transformative impact of the programme, which is being implemented by NWWDA. Earlier phases of the initiative have been successfully completed and are now fully operational, delivering clean and reliable water to communities located up to 35 kilometres away.

In order to sustain this progress, the current phase of the programme has successfully entered the mobilisation stage. During the inspection, Principal Secretary Julius Korir directed NWWDA to fast-track the ongoing projects to ensure timely delivery of services and tangible benefits to residents.

The Principal Secretary also urged the County Government to collaborate closely with the Agency in strengthening operations and maintenance (O&M) systems, to safeguard the long-term sustainability of the water infrastructure and ensure continued service delivery to the community.

CPA. Andrew Rage, as the NWWDA CEO, and his team reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to meeting project timelines, maintaining quality standards, and supporting effective systems for sustainable water service delivery across the region.

The Dadantallai–Eldas–Jukala–Wardey Water Programme continues to be a critical intervention in addressing water scarcity and improving access to safe and reliable water, while also promoting public health, livelihoods, and broader socio-economic development for communities across the area.
