Masalani-Gababa Pipeline Extension & Ancillary Works Project is a Governmental sponsored project under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation being implemented by the Northern Water Works Development Agency. The project is situated along Masalani-Gababa which is under Ijara subcounty in Garissa County. The project serves the people of Gababa Centre and its environs using a 17 km HDPE pipeline from the Existing Water Supply Treatment Works. The Project commenced on 23rd March 2023 vide Contract No. NWWDA/T/CW/004/2022-2023 and is still undertaken up to date. On completion, it will provide sufficient access to portable water for the 17,600 residents of Gababa center and its environs including students from Ijara Vocational and Technical Training College. The project entailed the following works:

  • Supply, Pipe laying and Back-filling DN 160-110 HDPE Pipes in an excavated17 Km 1.2-1.5m depth Trench.
  • Civil Works; Construction of Gate Valve and Air Valve Chambers.
  • Excavation of pipeline trenches
  • Civil Works; Breaking and Reinstatement of marram roads.
  • Construction of 1 No.150m3 Sectional Steel Elevated Water Tank at Ijara Vocational and Technical Training College Grounds.
  • Rehabilitation of 2 No. 150m3 Existing Elevated Steel Water Tank- (Tank arrangement 7*7*3).
  • Rehabilitation of 100m3 Existing Gababa elevated water tank
  • Improvement of Masalani Water Supply Existing Facilities
